Writing about an illness or injury can help you…

Understand what happened.

Take control of your narrative.

Improve your health.*

I’m Mojie Crigler. Nice to meet you!

When my brother Jason had a brain hemorrhage, writing helped me cope. Throughout Jason’s recovery, I kept notes, which I turned into a book, Get Me Through Tomorrow, published by the University of Nebraska Press.

Writing about Jason’s brain injury helped me…

  • Confront difficult emotions that I’d set aside during the crisis

  • Create a record of all the hard work, love, and medical interventions that helped Jason reclaim his life

As an editor, I specialize in books about medicine and public health, e.g., autism, Ebola, pandemics, and the U.S. healthcare system. I also write fiction and plays, and work as a writer in fundraising.

For years, I’ve led writing workshops—at schools, colleges, and nonprofit organizations. Write Your Medical Story brings the best of these workshops to anyone, anywhere, who wants to write about an illness or injury.

Write Your Medical Story is a 20-episode audio course to guide you through writing about an illness or injury.
